Liège hosts MIGreenDEAL international multiplier event to engage young migrants in climate action

On 15 January 2025, the international multiplier event of the MIGreenDEAL project was held in Liège (Belgium). It brought together partners, national experts, trainees and local stakeholders to present the results and discuss their long-term impact of the project. The event served as a platform to highlight the importance of climate and environmental change awareness among young migrant transformative learners. The event featured a varied programme, including presentation of the main results of MIGreenDEAL, testimonials from young people who participated in the programme, and insightful interventions from national experts and migrant entrepreneurs who shared good practices. A panel discussion on exploitation and sustainability strategies was also held, with the aim of integrating the project’s results into educational, community-based initiatives and to ensure lasting impact. One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the MIGreenDEAL tools, which allowed participants to explore the training programme, the personal application and the online course. The session provided valuable information on the effectiveness of these resources in assisting young migrants in developing sustainable and environmental awareness. The event concluded with an evaluation session where participants reflected on lessons on how to maximise the reach of the project. A networking session fostered collaboration between stakeholders, reinforcing MIGreenDEAL’s role in promoting social inclusion through environmental education. The event reinforced the commitment to ensure that MIGreenDEAL’s tools and methodologies continue to inspire and help young migrants to actively contribute to a greener future.
MIGreenDEAL publishes its fifth Newsletter

The MIGreenDEAL project published in February 2025 a new Newsletter with the latest news of the project. The publication covers the MIGreenDEAL multiplier event held in January 2025 in Liège, Belgium, which brought together partners, national experts, students and local stakeholders to present the project’s results and discuss its long-term impact. The event served as a platform to highlight the importance of climate change awareness and environmental engagement among young migrants through transformative learning. MIGreenDEAL Newsletter #4 is already published

The fifth training session of the MIGreenDEAL consortium was successfully held from July 15-17, 2024 in Athens, Greece. The event included workshops on key concepts, environmental awareness, sustainable living and the impact of environmental challenges on immigrants. META4 (Austria) led the workshop on key concepts, DISRUPTIA (Spain) on environmental awareness and La Bien Pagá (Spain) on environmental challenges. Le Monde des Possibles (Belgium) dealt with green jobs and entrepreneurship, while IASIS (Greece) presented advocacy and civic engagement. InnoQuality Systems (Ireland) led the session on personal reflection and action planning. On the third day, DISRUPTIA presented the functionalities of the MiGreenDEAL e-learning platform, IASIS presented the progress of the toolkit, and InnoQuality Systems discussed the roadmap and work plan of the pilot project. 41% of young Europeans believe they will have to move to another country because of climate change

The European Investment Bank Climate Survey reveals that environmental migration is seen as a marked reality in Europe, where 82% of respondents expect that climate change will force people to leave their country of residence to escape extreme weather conditions. At the same time, 24% of Europeans also expect to move to another country due to climate change. This figure is significantly higher among younger generations, where 41% are seriously considering the option of moving abroad. There is also a significant gap between European countries, with 33% of Austrians aged 15-29 years planning to move to another country, rising to 51% among young Spaniards. In this regard, we recall that the MIGreenDeal project recalls the need to raise awareness of climate change and environmental commitment among young migrants through transformative learning. The MIGreenDEAL project is moving forward with the creation of the e-Learning platform

The fourth transnational meeting of the MiGreenDeal project was held in Tenerife, Spain in March 2024, an ideal setting for a detailed review of the development of the e-learning platform and an exploration of the operational components of the online courses developed to raise awareness of climate change and environmental engagement among young migrants. The Newsletter #3 of the MIGreenDEAL project publishes all the work objectives of this meeting, such as the planning of the personal RoadmApp, the work protocols and a toolkit for adult educators, community leaders and mediators. The meeting also included discussions on dissemination and sustainability planning, as well as preparations for the project’s interim report, always under the prism of environmental awareness of sustainable development and youth empowerment. The MiGreenDEAL project aspires to raise awareness of the climate crisis

The MiGreenDEAL project aspires to raise awareness of the climate crisis awareness among young migrants through transformative learning by implementing innovative practices and digital solutions in adult education in order to prepare migrants and adult educators, community leaders and mediators to become real agents of change in environmental sustainability and fight against climate change. Because the project is such a challenging prospect, a great team is needed, which MiGreenDeal has, with a fantastic consortium, with partners from Les Mondes de Possibles (Belgium), La Bien Paga (Spain), META4 (Austria), DISRUPTIA (Spain), and IASIS (Greece). The consortium recently met in Austria for the third project meeting in the 5th of September 2023. The meeting was organised by Meta4 and took place in Klagenfurt. Partners from all organisations attended to discuss ongoing project activities and plan for the next project steps. The meeting was most fruitful with all partners happy in the progress of the project and the next steps.
First Newsletter of the MIGreenDEAL project published

The cities of Valladolid (Spain) and Dublin (Ireland) hosted in December 2022 and April 2023 the first meetings for the development of the MIGreenDEAL project, a program designed to implement innovative practices and educational digital solutions to develop green skills. The first Newsletter of the project has just been released, and its content focuses on the initial guidelines established at these two meetings, where the international organizations Le Monde des Possibles (Belgium), La Bien Pagá (Spain), InnoQuality Systems (Ireland), META4 (Austria), DISRUPTIA (Spain) and IASIS (Greece) have participated.
